So I’ve been playing with an Adobe app, #adobecapture

Home looks like this. I’ve been playing around with the different functions, figuring how they work with the design apps I use most often: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat.

Making shapes & modifying in Photoshop & Illustrator

I made a bunch of patterns. Here’s one from Henry’s bum. Since I’m willing to go sit in the shrubs with my cat, I made use of my time. The palette is so nice! It’d be good for carpeting.

Here’s a few more. You could do it endlessly (or maybe that’s just me).

Was less successful trying to make a brush for Photoshop. It also exports paths to Illustrator, but it’d be way better to make a mark like this traditional media… I used an ink pen with a brush-like tip.

I already deleted the Photoshop brush I made with Capture because it didn’t work. I then imported my original photo, dropped out the background & outlined it to make an Illustrator art brush. It’d be better if I’d taken the time to draw the image carefully in Illustrator, but this would do for some effects.

So I tried Patterns, Shapes (harder to see using, for me personally) and Brushes. Looks creates color story thumbnails that you can use to apply really meh color effects in Photoshop. I’d much rather access the thumbnails as separate, good quality image files but that appears to be impossible. It’d be cool for very easy mood & color boards!

PS: Yes I have to rename this particular Cloud library from Animate to Capture. I am not that organized about them because I use them for play. I was dabbling in Flash, which turned into Animate mid dabble. Forgot to rename it / make a new one. Non importanto.

Anyway I need to get to the illustration. Gotta ink two goddesses today. Working in traditional media again has been amazing for me, both as an artist & a designer.

Knight of Cups, Knight of Wands, VII The Chariot #tarot

Card 1, within: Knight of Cups

Last seen June 8 in the 3rd position.

Knight of Cups represents the passionate heart – mastery of the emotional desires which bring out the “lover” in all of us through the expressions and experience of deeply emotional passions.  Relationships with Karmic ties.  You may be offered an interesting invitation, which will result in an emotional experience that will bring high energy and lift you to an exhilarating state as new situations seem to come from nowhere.  Your decisions will be made without much thought and you will experience the feeling of “inner” direction – the experience of warmth, friendliness, love and the need to share these qualities with everyone.  There will be good will and a partnership in which good feelings will prevail.

Questions to Answer:

  1. What dream, vision, ideal or love are you following?
  2. Who is inviting you on a journey of emotional significance?

On a quest for the heart.

Keywords: Searching for matters of the heart; love, meaning in life. Compassion, experience, and maturity is the key. Self made person.

Card 2, without: Knight of Wands

Last seen May 29th in the same position.

Introduction: When the Knight of Wands appears, this is a great time for travel if you can manage to get away. You should be feeling charged up, full of energy, and ready to get things done. Your self-confidence is likely to be increasing and this should help you toward your goals. It is the card of sudden solutions arriving in a flurry of inspiration.

Questions to Answer:

  1. How are you growing and developing? How are you taking risks?
  2. Who is radiating creative or sexual energy in your life?
  3. Who enthusiastically wants to get going on something?

General: Knights are often message bearers, and in the Wands suit, the messages are likely to be positive and related to work or career. Your projects are likely to be/have been more successful than you would have expected or predicted. You have a lot of reasons to feel pride. Savor it. I heard from another factory owner in my past recently! This time from my days spent designing high-end, hand knotted Tibetan carpets. I got an invite on LinkedIn and we had a chat about this & that, including the possibilities of freelance. I have to go to menial retail land today, but I think I have some freelance invoices from after I’d left full-time at the carpet place. I’d invented my own system of working with indexed Photoshop files, where each pixel equalled a knot, in the three grades of size. My friend, the Tibetan factory owner, had also hired someone from Apple, when Apple was still down in the dumps, pre iPod and iPhone, to write some graphic software for him…

It’s a good thing I’ve impressed people in the past, with my ingenuity and artistic talent. If I could GET to the decision makers, I could show them, but in the days of corporate layers… Seems like the main job of HR half the time is to prevent anything from happening. They are the gatekeepers of inaction.

So this factory owner was not my employer. My employer was in NYC. When I was there we were in a fantastic, huge Soho showroom on the corner of Prince & Broadway, 2nd floor. Of course when that 10-year lease was up, the business had to move. This was before the days when NYC really tanked out, but he still couldn’t successfully renegotiate. He admitted to me, a couple years after I’d left, that the replacement he’d hired was fine on the advertisement graphic design, but couldn’t really handle the textile design, and this is why I got freelance while he was still coming into Manhattan regularly.

Keywords: The quest and search for power and energy, the holy flame, though not necessarily with the maturity to use it responsibly. The goal is to transform the holy flame into something constructive rather than destructive. Dark, mysterious, solitary, dramatic, shamanistic, passionate and intense.

In the second position: In some cases this can be a young person on whom you must rely.  Otherwise, this is your own spiritual energy and your ability to position yourself well in spiritual matters.  You seem to be doing the right things for the right reasons.  Your material world is not cluttered with things that do not belong.

Card 3, advice: VII The Chariot

The Chariot shares that you can achieve your goal if you will just keep trying.  Progress can be made now – obstacles overcome and success gained through personal dynamism.  Control your emotions and your dreams will come true – remove all the obstacles so you will have the vision to move forward.  You are due recognition and honor – harness all your energy and apply it wisely so that you will be able to make your point.  Allow your soul to direct your body – be receptive to both the negative and the positive – control and balance them.  Rest now, reflect and turn inward for analysis, solitude, health and physical completion without effort.  Issues are coming to a head – maintain control – wait, listen and avoid pushing your affairs.  Accept that you are “in” the world but not “of” the world – find the “force” within you through a quiet and receptive state of mind.  “Ego” is your conscious mind, your physical self-image – it forms the “surface” identity which directs your views and focus – it is a vehicle used to express your soul.  Your ego continually changes as your beliefs about yourself change – it successfully controls a situation, but never brings the contradictions together so that they can be resolved.  Trust and work in harmony with your “way” and you will reach your goal.  Honor your achievements and dedicate yourself to even higher successes.

Introduction: The Chariot indicates a lot of energy but not free-for-all energy. It’s directed, controlled, and has a goal in mind. When this card appears you are likely to be fairly clear on what your hopes and dreams involve and what you are willing to do to get there.

General: In general this card points to determination and ambition, getting things done, and testing and proving what you’ve got. This is a sign that you should move forward with whatever you have in mind (and in your heart) and give it your best shot. Remember, though, that you’ll need to use both your intellect and your heart, in order to be truly successful.

In the third position: The time is appropriate and the means are at hand for growth.  A major step forward and outward.
